Household and furniture storage in New Plymouth

Get the spare room, the garage or the whole house into one dry, roofed container. Half containers are $140 a month and full 20ft containers are $220, GST included.

Household storage

A better home for the things you are not using

Furniture hates damp, heat and being carried up stairs. Our containers are steel, sealed, shaded by a full length roof and at ground level, so your things go in easily and come out the way they went in.

  • A full container takes a typical three bedroom house, garage included
  • A half container suits a flat, a bedroom or a garage clear out
  • Roof overhead and concrete at the door, so loading in the rain is no drama
  • Back the trailer or truck right up, no stairs or lifts
  • One flat monthly price with GST already in it

Common questions

What fits in a 20ft container?

The contents of a typical three bedroom house, including whiteware, beds, lounge and dining furniture and the garage. As boxes, it holds roughly 180 to 200 standard moving cartons.

What fits in a half container?

About 16 cubic metres, which suits a one or two bedroom flat, a garage clear out, or tools and stock for a small business. Each half has its own lockable door.

Are the containers weatherproof?

Yes. Shipping containers are steel, sealed and built for ocean freight. Ours also sit under a full length roof with a concrete apron out front, so they stay cooler and drier and you can load without standing in mud.

How do I stop damp in a storage container?

Store everything clean and fully dry, leave a small air gap around the walls, lift boxes and mattresses off the floor on pallets, and add a moisture absorber for long stays. The roof over our containers also cuts down the heat swings that cause condensation.

Should I insure what I store?

Yes. As with most storage in New Zealand, your goods are your responsibility while they are stored. Ring your contents insurer and ask them to note the storage address. Many policies cover goods in storage for a small extra cost or none at all.

What can I store in a container?

Household furniture, whiteware, boxes, sports and camping gear, tools, building materials, business stock and archive files are all common. Do not store anything flammable, explosive, illegal, perishable or alive.
