Monthly prices are hard to compare when unit sizes differ. Cost per cubic metre is the fair test, so here it is.

Around half of New Plymouth storage providers do not publish a price at all. Among those that do, a 20ft container or a similar sized unit of about 18 square metres was advertised at roughly $200 to $280 a month when we checked in October 2026. Our full container is $220 with GST included, and it sits under a roof.
A full container costs $80 a month more than a half and gives you twice the room. If your load is anywhere near the limit of a half, going full means you can pack loosely, leave an aisle and reach things without unloading. The size guide shows exactly what fits in each.
